My Way News reports: "Iran takes part in international talks on Syria for the first time this week [...] The gathering Thursday and Friday in Vienna will also put Iran in the same room with its most bitter regional rival, Saudi Arabia, raising the potential for tensions. The kingdom, along with other Gulf countries, has been funneling weapons to rebel factions, while Iran has sent financing, weapons and military advisers to ensure Assad's survival."

My Way News - Jewish activists step up activities at sensitive holy site
My Way News reports: "A new Israeli proclamation to uphold a ban on Jewish prayer at Jerusalem's most sensitive holy site should have dealt a sobering blow to the die-hard activists who have spent years fighting for the right to worship at the spot, which is sacred to Muslims as well as Jews. Instead, it has only emboldened them. [...] There are about 27 Jewish organizations dedicated to boosting Jewish visits to the site, according to the United Temple Mount Movement, an umbrella group representing them. These include groups of students, ultra-Orthodox Jews, women and one that has fashioned a golden menorah and other accouterments for use in a future temple.'

My Way News - Iran to take a seat among world powers for Syria talks
My Way News reports: "Iran will take part in international talks on Syria for the first time this week, giving it a voice in the effort to find a resolution to the more than 4-year-old civil war that has so far defied even the slightest progress toward peace. A crucial backer of Syrian President Bashar Assad, Tehran has been shunned from all previous talks on Syria. Its inclusion now marks recognition by the United States that no discussion on Syria's future can succeed without Iran at the table."

My Way News - An intolerable unimaginable heat forecast for Persian Gulf
My Way News reports: "If carbon dioxide emissions continue at their current pace, by the end of century parts of the Persian Gulf will sometimes be just too hot for the human body to tolerate, a new study says. How hot? The heat index — which combines heat and humidity — may hit 165 to 170 degrees (74 to 77 Celsius) for at least six hours, according to numerous computer simulations in the new study. That's so hot that the human body can't get rid of heat."

My Way News - New Russian military might on full display in Syria
My Way News reports: "The air campaign in Syria, Russia's first military action outside the former Soviet Union since the war in Afghanistan, shows a revamped Russian military, which sharply differs in both capability and mindset from the old, Soviet-style force. It is capable of quickly projecting power far from Russian borders, widely uses drones and precision weapons, and cares about soldiers' comfort. [...] The rapid deployment of a sizable expeditionary force by sea and air, an air campaign in which dozens of jets relentlessly pounded targets round the clock for weeks and the launching of long-range cruise missiles from the Caspian were intended to send a clear message: Russia's military could rival U.S. operational capability."

[...] Kerry said the understandings included Israel fully respecting Jordan's 'special role' as custodian of the site, its continued enforcement of religious worship at the site in which Muslims pray there and non-Muslims visit and its commitment not to divide the site and to reject any attempt to suggest otherwise."

My Way News - US seeking clarity on ground rules at key Jerusalem shrine

U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry is meeting in Amman this weekend with Jordan's King Abdullah II, custodian of the site, and Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas after holding talks with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to clarify those rules."

My Way News - Israel lifts Muslim age limit at Jerusalem shrine
My Way News reports: "Muslim prayers at a major Jerusalem shrine, the epicenter of weeks of unrest, ended peacefully Friday after Israel lifted restrictions on worshippers in an apparent bid to ease tensions. Meanwhile, violence continued in the West Bank where Palestinians threw a firebomb at an Israeli car, wounding a mother and her two children. An Israeli news site said one of the children, a 4-year-old girl, was badly burned."

[...] China and five other governments lay claim to part or all of the South China Sea, a busy passageway for commercial and military vessels. Washington has a policy of not taking sides in the territorial disputes, but says it's in its national interest to ensure freedom of navigation and overflight and the peaceful resolution of the conflicts."

Moscow says it is fighting IS and other extremist groups like the al-Qaida-linked Nusra Front, but Washington and others say the intervention is to prop up Assad and is likely to fan the violence. The intervention is also allowing Russia to portray itself as a major global player, projecting its military power far from its borders."

My Way News - Israel's Netanyahu heads to Berlin to meet Kerry
My Way News reports: "With no end in sight to weeks of Israeli-Palestinian violence, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu headed to Germany on Wednesday as part of a high-profile diplomatic push to restore calm. The trip, which included a meeting with German Chancellor Angela Merkel and talks with U.S. Secretary state John Kerry on Thursday, came on a day of new Palestinian attacks in the West Bank. [...] It remains unclear whether the diplomatic push will be able to succeed. The Israeli and Palestinian leaders have vast differences over the causes of the violence. My Way News - 'Let us go!' Migrants ford icy river, burn tents in Slovenia
My Way News reports: "While the government said it was still investigating the cause, police at the scene told The Associated Press that migrants had set a stack of UNHCR-supplied blankets deliberately on fire to protest conditions in the camp on the outskirts of Brezice. [...] Many migrants from the Middle East, Asia and Africa expressed bewilderment and disappointment because they had been told as they began their journeys in Turkey that the hard part would end once they reached EU countries like Croatia and Slovenia. Many had expected other countries to permit them free passage to wealthier western countries, particularly Germany, that they hope to make home."

Comment: It's a shame they don't have a spirit of gratitude when imposing on the hospitality of other countries. They should be thankful for whatever is offered.  How does one explain this bizarre sense of entitlement as if they have a right to live in Germany? I'm still waiting on an explanation as to why the wealthy Gulf states are not taking them in. One would think they would naturally gravitate to countries with whom they share kinship and sectarian ties. The fact that they are not doing so lends credence to some of the more outlandish conspiracy theories. There does seem to be an agenda at work.

Iran troops to join Syria war, Russia bombs group trained by CIA | Reuters
Reuters reports: "Hundreds of Iranian troops have arrived in Syria to join a major ground offensive in support of President Bashar al-Assad's government, Lebanese sources said on Thursday, a sign the civil war is turning still more regional and global in scope. Russian warplanes, in a second day of strikes, bombed a camp run by rebels trained by the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency, the group's commander said, putting Moscow and Washington on opposing sides in a Middle East conflict for the first time since the Cold War."

Oregon shooting: Gunman dead at Umpqua Community College - CNN.com
CNN reports: "The gunman who opened fire at Oregon's Umpqua Community College targeted Christians specifically, according to the father of a wounded student. Before going into spinal surgery, Anastasia Boylan told her father and brother the gunman entered her classroom firing [...] Everyone in the classroom dropped to the ground. The gunman, while reloading his handgun, ordered the students to stand up if they were Christians, Boylan told her family. 'And they would stand up and he said, 'Good, because you're a Christian, you're going to see God in just about one second,' Boylan's father, Stacy, told CNN, relaying her account. 'And then he shot and killed them.'"

Comment: This is a terrible tragedy but what a powerful witness. These fellow believers were faithful unto death rather than renounce Jesus. WOW.
