Reuters - World may have to live with nuclear Iran -US study
Iran plays a pivotal role in the final end times and I think we can say, based on Ezekiel 38:5, that Iran's military might will not be challenged until that country attacks Israel. It is not surprising then to find the crisis over Iran's nuclear program suddenly cooling and the U.S. and the E.U. seeking some way of living with a nuclear Iran.

WorldNetDaily: Robertson: Disasters point to 2nd Coming

Robertson cites the Great Sumatra Earthquake and Tsunami, Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, and the Great Indo-Pakistani Earthquake of 2005 as typical of the "beginnings of birth pangs" that Jesus spoke of, as taken down by Matthew and Luke.

In this regard, the National Hurricane Center has nearly run out of names for tropical storms. Hurricane Vince was, at last report, off the coast of Portugal. And the season is not over yet. Only one name, beginning with W, remains, after which the World Meteorological Organization will have to assign Greek alphabetical letters to every storm that forms for the rest of the season.

What is also worthy of note is that Pat Robertson, in his previous 700 Club broadcasts, does not accept the notion of a seven-year period of war, famine, plague, and one-world governmental oppression. Why he has studiously ignored the detailed description in Revelation 13 concerning the Beast (actually the word Therion means Murderous, Ravening Monster, from Teras, Teratos a wondrous creature), the False (literally, Lying) Prophet, the image of the Beast, the mark, the spectacle of warfare against the saints, or the enforcement-to-death of worship of the Beast and his image, I don't know. But I would agree with him that so many disasters, coupled with a coming foretaste of the Fourth Horseman in the form of Influenza H5N1, do portend the play-out of the Famous Last Words of the Bible.

Dutch to Create Cradle-To-Grave Database, With Personal Electronic Dossier for Everyone

By TOBY STERLING Associated Press Writer

http://abcnews.go.com/Technology/wireStory?id=1128449

AMSTERDAM, Netherlands Sep 15, 2005 — The Dutch government will begin tracking every citizen from cradle to grave in a single database, opening a personal electronic dossier for every child at birth with health and family data, and eventually adding school and police records.

The Health Ministry says the new database will begin Jan. 1, 2007.

As a privacy safeguard, no single person will be able to access someone's entire file. And each agency that contributes to the records will maintain its own files as well.

But organizations can raise "red flags" in the dossier to caution other agencies of potential problems with children, said ministry spokesman Jan Brouwer. Until now, schools and police have been unable to communicate with each other about truancy records and criminality, which are often linked.

"Child protection services will say: `Hey, there's a warning flag from the police. There's another one from school. There's another one from the doctor. Something must be going on and it's time to call the parents in for a meeting,'" Brouwer said.

Currently, all Dutch births are registered with local authorities, and children receive tax ID numbers in the mail within several weeks of birth. But their health and other records are not available in a single file.

Now each child will get a Citizens Service Number, making it easier to keep track of children with problems even when their families move.

Kabbalist Urges Jews to Israel Ahead of Upcoming Disasters
16:46 Sep 15, '05 / 11 Elul 5765
By Baruch Gordon

http://israelnationalnews.com/news.php3?id=89850

Israel's leading known Kabbalistic Elder, Rabbi Yitzchak Kaduri called upon worldwide Jewry Tuesday night to return to Israel due to natural disasters which threaten to strike the world.

In a class between the Mincha (afternoon) and Maariv (evening) prayers at his Jerusalem yeshiva seminary, Rabbi Kaduri issued the following call:
”This declaration I find fitting to issue for all of the Jews of the world to hear. It is incumbent upon them to return to the Land of Israel due to terrible natural disasters which threaten the world.

In the future, the Holy One, Blessed be He, will bring about great disasters in the countries of the world to sweeten the judgements of the Land of Israel.

I am ordering the publication of this declaration as a warning, so that Jews in the countries of the world will be aware of the impending danger and will come to the Land of Israel for the buliding of the Temple and revelation of our righteous Mashiach (Messiah).”

....Earlier this Jewish year, Rabbi Kaduri predicted great tragedies in the world. Just two weeks before the devastating tsunami in southeast Asia, Rabbi Kaduri was quoted in the Yediot Acharonot newspaper as saying:

"We are now in the fourth year of what could be the seven-year Redemption period, according to the calculation of the Vilna Gaon. [However.] in the coming three years, uncertainty about the future will hang over our heads, unless we work and strive that the Mashiach be revealed.

The Mashiach is already in Israel. Whatever people are sure will not happen, is liable to happen, and whatever we are certain will happen may disappoint us. But in the end, there will be peace throughout the world. The world is mitmatek mehadinim (or becoming sweet from strict justice).

Great tragedies in the world are foreseen, that's the thing of the Jews going to the East. But our enemies will not prevail over us in the Land of Israel, 'fear and trembling will fall upon them,' in the power of Torah."

WorldNetDaily: Did God send Katrina as judgment for Gaza?

A number of my fellow correspondents have suggested that. Some of them suggests that Bush is the Beast [Revelation 13]. I won't comment, beyond reminding everyone that trying to identify the Beast is as irresponsible and fruitless as is trying to fix a date for Christ's Return--which, Jesus tells us, is a date that the Father keeps secret even from the angels. [Matthew 24:36; Mark 13:32]

Rather than mark Katrina down as a specific judgment, I am inclined to accept that storm as one of many natural disasters that will befall the earth as the Second Advent approaches.

KUWAIT: "THE TERRORIST KATRINA IS A SOLDER OF ALLAH"

Special to World Tribune.com MIDDLE EAST MEDIA RESEARCH INSTITUTE
Thursday, September 1, 2005

Muhammad Yousef Al-Mlaifi, director of the Kuwaiti Ministry of Endowment's research center, published an article titled "The Terrorist Katrina is One of the Soldiers of Allah, But Not an Adherent of Al-Qaeda."(1) the Aug. 31 edition of the Kuwaiti daily Al-Siyassa. Following are excerpts:

"...As I watched the horrible sights of this wondrous storm, I was reminded of the Hadith of the Messenger of Allah [in the compilations] of Al-Bukhari and Abu Daoud. The Hadith says: 'The wind is of the wind of Allah, it comes from mercy or for the sake of torment. When you see it, do not curse it, [but rather] ask Allah for the good that is in it, and ask Allah for shelter from its evil.'

"When the satellite channels reported on the scope of the terrifying destruction in America [caused by] this wind, I was reminded of the words of [Prophet Muhammad]: 'The wind sends torment to one group of people, and sends mercy to others.' I do not think — and only Allah [really] knows — that this wind, which completely wiped out American cities in these days, is a wind of mercy and blessing. It is almost certain that this is a wind of torment and evil that Allah has sent to this American empire.

"But I began to ask myself: Doesn't this country [the U.S.] claim to aspire to establish justice, freedom, and equality amongst the people? Isn't this country claiming that everything it did in Afghanistan and Iraq was for truth and justice? How can it be that these American claims are untrue, when we see how good prevails in the streets of Afghanistan, and how it became an oasis of security with America's entrance there? How can these American claims in the matter of Iraq be untrue, when we see that Iraq has become the most tranquil and secure country in the world?"

"But how strange it is that after all the tremendous American achievements for the sake of humanity, these mighty winds come and evilly rip [America's] cities to shreds? Have the storms joined the Al-Qaeda terrorist organization?
"How sad I am for America. Here it is, poor thing, trying with all its might to lower oil prices which have reached heights unprecedented in all history. Along with America's phenomenal efforts to lower the price of oil in order to salvage its declining economy and its currency — that is still falling due to the 'smart' policy America is implementing in the world — comes this storm, the fruit of Allah's planning, so that [the price of] a barrel of oil will increase further still. By Allah, this is not schadenfreude.

"Oh honored gentlemen, I began to read about these winds, and I was surprised to discover that the American websites that are translated [into Arabic] are talking about the fact that that the storm Katrina is the fifth equatorial storm to strike Florida this year... and that a large part of the U.S. is subject every year to many storms that extract [a price of] dead, and completely destroy property. I said, Allah be praised, until when will these successive catastrophes strike them?

"But before I went to sleep, I opened the Koran and began to read in Surat Al-R'ad ['The Thunder' chapter], and stopped at these words [of Allah]: 'The disaster will keep striking the unbelievers for what they have done, or it will strike areas close to their territory, until the promise of Allah comes to pass, for, verily, Allah will not fail in His promise.' [Koran 13:31]."

The prophecies that Jesus gave his disciples on the Mount of Olives (called the Olivet Discourse) are among the most well known in the Bible and one of them is quite peculiar when you examine it closely. When the disciples asked Jesus what the signs of his return and the end of the age would be, he gave them several signs that they would be familair with from their own life and times (war, famine, pestilence) and near the end of this list of signs he said that at that time the nations would be fearful and perplexed and the roaring of the waves and tides (Luke 21:25). Keep in mind the Jesus was talking to his disciples (fishermen and locals from the Galilee region), whose experience with waves and tides was exclusively based on the Sea of Galilee and the Mediterranean Sea. And although we do have a very famous account of a storm on the Sea of Galilee (Mark 4:35-40) we know that storms over an inland sea (either Galilee or the Mediterranean) do not produce the kinds of giant waves (tsunami) that occur over open water in the oceans of the world. The disciples, experienced fishermen though they may have been, had never set foot in the Atlantic or the Pacific and could scarcely imagine why nations would be bothered by waves. And yet today in modern times we are well aware of why giant waves are something to be worried about.

So, I bring to your attention a report today from the Associated Press (MyWay News - Deadly Tsunami Reached Around the Globe) on the latest discovery about the magnitude of the Sumatra tsunami:
"Last year's Sumatra tsunami focused its death and destruction on the lands around the Indian Ocean, but the great wave traveled around the world and was recorded as far away as Peru and northeastern Canada. The wave rose a massive 30 feet as it destroyed communities around the Indian Ocean. Tide gauges worldwide recorded its arrival from hours to a day after its Dec. 26 start, and movement of the wave was also tracked by satellite, according to a study appearing Thursday in Science Express, the online edition of the journal Science."
The giant wave generated by the Sumatra tsunami confirms that this prophetic sign speaks to our generation far more directly that it did to people two thousand years ago. The nations are indeed perplexed by the waves, and are still paying for tsunami relief and investing millions of dollars in expensive tsunami detection equipment. We can say with certainty based on this prophecy that there will be more giant waves and coastal flooding, perhaps because of global warming as well as quake activity. These fearsome events remind us that life is fragile and fleeting, this is the right time to examine your relationship with God and head the words of Jesus, "when these things begin to happen, look up, your redemption draws near."

Wired News: One Device to Rule Them All: "Here's how Adderton sees the near future: You'll be asleep in your house, and your wireless entertainment device will wake you up. It'll be voice-activated, so if you want some music-- Nelly or Eminem--you just say so. You'll use the device to turn on your TV and change channels or to surf the internet on your computer. Just tell it what you want to do and it'll take you there.

When you go outside, you'll plug it into your car and it will serve as a
global positioning system and give you detailed directions to where you're
going. The device will tell the car stereo what tunes you have on your iPod
and play them over the speakers. If someone else is driving, you can watch TV news or surf the internet, answer e-mail, download music or read an
electronic book. At work you can put the phone up to a special reader and
pay for lunch or coffee. Perhaps you'll hold a video conference. Or pay
bills.

If you are in e-commerce mode, you can purchase music or movies, which will automatically be stored in your home entertainment system as well as in your wireless device, which will hold 34 MB of data -- or much more with an optional card. Or you can download an interview with Dave Chappelle as you watch reruns of his show on Comedy Central, because the device will function like TiVo, too."

JSF Will Combine Strike, Jamming, Intelligence
By MICHAEL FABEY
August 23, 2005

The U.S. Marine Corps wants its F-35 Joint Strike Fighter (JSF) to be more than an affordable replacement for the Harrier close-air-support plane; it wants the next-generation aircraft to jam the cell phones that trigger roadside bombs.

For about the past six months, the Marines have been coming to us and asking if there was anything the JSF could do to support the guys on the ground, to shut down a communications system," said David Jeffreys, a program manager with F-35 maker Lockheed Martin.

And in February, the Marines hired Penn State University to study how the JSF might handle other forms of electronic warfare (EW). The Corps currently relies on the decades-old EA-6B Prowler, which is slated to retire in a decade or so."

It has a catchy name, it's convenient to use and, most importantly, it offers card members peace of mind. That's what JPMorgan Chase is banking on in promoting its Chase with contactless credit card. Chase introduced the card in June in an effort to be the first to pave the way for a national switch to smart cards in the U.S. To date, Chase has issued two million blink cards to Visa and MasterCard credit cardholders in Colorado and Georgia and it's continually adding new merchant locations to the 400-plus initially slated for the rollout."

PARENTS LOSE RIGHT TO LIFE APPEAL

The parents of a brain-damaged baby have failed to overturn a court order that rules she should be allowed to die if she stops breathing.

Darren and Debbie Wyatt, from Portsmouth, presented a letter at the Court of Appeal from doctors saying Charlotte has made remarkable progress.

The 22-month-old has serious lung, brain and kidney damage.

Doctors at St Mary's Hospital, in Portsmouth, won the legal right not to resuscitate her last October.

Mr and Mrs Wyatt's solicitor, Richard Stein, said: "They are pleased that the court recognised Charlotte's continued improvement.

"The doctor called her improvement remarkable and one of the judges called it astonishing."

World not set to deal with widespread flu - washingtonpost.com Highlights - MSNBC.com: "World not set to deal with widespread fluStrategy for pandemic needed, experts say

By David BrownUpdated: 3:02 a.m. ET July 31,

2005WASHINGTON - Public health officials preparing to battle what they view as an inevitable influenza pandemic say the world lacks the medical weapons to fight the disease effectively, and will not have them anytime soon.Public health specialists and manufacturers are working frantically to develop vaccines, drugs, strategies for quarantining and treating the ill, and plans for international cooperation, but these efforts will take years. Meanwhile, the most dangerous strain of influenza to appear in decades -- the H5N1 'bird flu' in Asia -- is showing up in new populations of birds, and occasionally people, almost by the month, global health officials say.If the virus were to start spreading in the next year, the world would have only a relative handful of doses of an experimental vaccine to defend against a disease that, history shows, could potentially kill millions. If the vaccine proved effective and every flu vaccine factory in the world started making it, the first doses would not be ready for four months. By then, the pathogen would probably be on every continent."
