That's right, Tony Blair will not seek either an act of Parliament or a referendum on the European Constitution in his country. Indeed, even the future of the euro is now in doubt, in that leading Germans, and now Italians, have called for referenda in their countries for the restoration of their respective national currencies. Is this a reversal of the trend toward a single currency and a single economic system? Or is this, as some stock-market gurus like to say, merely a bump in the road--a "bounce" as they like to put it? As Jesus Himself reminds us, only the Father knows for sure.
