Quartet to convene Mideast peace conference in Moscow later this year - Haaretz - Israel News

Haaretz reports: "The Quartet of Middle East peacemakers decided this week to convene a regional conference in Moscow in November [...] the conference is to provide the stage either for the signing of an Israeli-Palestinian peace agreement or, in a much more likely scenario, a joint statement on the course of negotiations planned for 2009."

Comment: This is an interesting development. It's interesting because the first Quartet hosted international peace conference was held in Annapolis last year and shortly after that then Russian President Putin offered Moscow as the next host, raising the possibility that each member of the Quartet will get to host an international peace conference. After Russia we would then expect the UN or the EU to be the next host in 2009. Either venue sets up interesting possibilities for the fulfillment of the Covenant With Many prophecy, especially if the Moscow conference is a ministerial meeting and not a head-of-state meeting, that would make the 2009 conference much more significant.
