Do you think he is "the one" who will negotiate the peace treaty?
Thanks for your comment. No, I don't think he is "the one" if you are referring to the first beast of Revelation, commonly called the Antichrist, the one who negotiates the "covenant with many" agreement of Daniel 9:27.
It's not uncommon for people to find in American presidents a likely candidate for that role, and Obama is hardly the first, but it is a misreading of Bible prophecy to assume that this leader will be an American president. This leader is not identified in Bible prophecy, but several clues are provided. More likely than not, he will be a European of Roman descent and will be given power by ten countries. This tells us that he is not American, not a president, and not the official leader of the present-day EU (which has expanded far beyond ten).
It is always tempting to read Bible prophecy into current events, but we must remember that most of these events will be fulfilled in the future. We are talking about a world in which there is great trouble and change (great tribulation), unlike anything that has come before. The world powers we look to today to provide security (like the U.S.,the UN and the EU) will not be able to hold it together, they will be overwhelmed, and people will be looking elsewhere for leadership.
So, no, I do not think Obama is the one.
This age will end as it began, as a contest between Rome and Jerusalem. Last time, Rome won. Next time, Jerusalem wins.
