Merry Christmas

I'm off for my holiday break and wanted to wish you all a happy and joyous Christmas. I know that the news we link to here is often grim but I'm sure that most of you who visit this site are Christians who understand that beyond the headlines we know that God is sovereign and always in control. We know that this effort to be watchful has a purpose and a focus, and that focus is on Jesus Christ.

We watch the signs of His return, but this season is all about the First Coming and not the Second Coming, so as we turn to our families and friends to celebrate the holidays we offer thanks and praise to God and above all, celebrate Jesus as the reason for the season. I'd like to leave you with the lyrics to one of my favorite holiday carols. I like this one because the words share the Good News of salvation.  Merry Christmas!

Hark the Herald Angels Sing
lyrics by Charles Wesley

Hark the herald angels sing
"Glory to the newborn King!
Peace on earth and mercy mild
God and sinners reconciled"
Joyful, all ye nations rise
Join the triumph of the skies
With the angelic host proclaim:
"Christ is born in Bethlehem"
Hark! The herald angels sing
"Glory to the newborn King!"

Christ by highest heav'n adored
Christ the everlasting Lord!
Late in time behold Him come
Offspring of a Virgin's womb
Veiled in flesh the Godhead see
Hail the incarnate Deity
Pleased as man with man to dwell
Jesus, our Emmanuel
Hark! The herald angels sing
"Glory to the newborn King!"

Hail the heav'n-born Prince of Peace!
Hail the Son of Righteousness!
Light and life to all He brings
Ris'n with healing in His wings
Mild He lays His glory by
Born that man no more may die
Born to raise the sons of earth
Born to give them second birth
Hark! The herald angels sing
"Glory to the newborn King!"

Admin - Primary Source is Changing

As you may know, the primary news source most cited on this blog is My Way News. If you have clicked through to any of the recent news reports you would have noticed this banner at the top of their page:
After many years, the MyWay website will be getting an upgrade. The current site will be available until the end of day, December 5th, 2015. The new site will debut in the near future.

If you're a MyWay email accountholder, you will still be able to access your email by logging in through the following URL:http://my.myway.com/email_redir.jsp. Please update your bookmarks accordingly.

Thank you for your years of loyalty using MyWay!
I'm not sure exactly what this will mean for their news site, but I will be using other sources until the dust settles. From time to time I get pushback from readers who email me to let me know (most friendly, some not) that there are indeed other sources of news on the net. Yes, I'm aware. So, why do I use them? My Way News has, for many years, offered up newswire reports on an uncluttered site, free of advertising, banners, pop-ups, cookies and trackers along with a commendable privacy policy. In short, I like My Way News because it's just news, the top headlines, and that's all.

We will begin this new era next week. Don't be surprised to find links to Reuters, AP, Fox, CNN and the other major news sites. I'll try really hard not to link to Yahoo News (the very opposite of My Way News), but it may be unavoidable. With any luck, My Way News will be back in the near future, better than ever, with an unchanged site philosophy.

For our American visitors, Happy Thanksgiving!
