My Way News - Vatican offers 3 reasons it's not liable for abuse
My Way News reports: "Court documents obtained Tuesday by The Associated Press show that Vatican lawyers plan to argue that the pope has immunity as head of state, that American bishops who oversaw abusive priests weren't employees of the Vatican, and that a 1962 document is not the 'smoking gun' that provides proof of a cover-up."

Comment: These excuses sound like lawyer code phrases for evading responsibility in any way possible, not the actions of a church willing to act with transparency and accountability. The priests weren't employees? What were they then? Maybe they were subcontractors? Or, how about freelancers? That's it, they were freelance priests temporarily and loosely affiliated with the church, but not really actually acting on behalf of, or in the employ of, an actual organized religion like the Catholic Church. Shame.
