AP reports: "The 27 European Union leaders are scheduled to hold a special summit in Brussels on Monday to discuss how to respond to the recent brief and bitter war between Russia and Georgia, and Russia's subsequent recognition of the independence of two breakaway regions of Georgia."
Comment: I think this will be important for you New Romers, an important test, will the EU step up and demonstrate resolve or will they opt for the safe diplomatic road?

You sound skeptical about a revived Roman Empire, don't most of you prophecy guys preach that?
Yes, I am skeptical, but only about the EU, not about there being a final world empire. Don't forget that the final empire starts with ten countries and then expands, the EU is far larger than that now.
Some may counter argue that the EU did start small, but a close examination of Rev will show that the ten kings reign at the same time, they are not past kings, but all reign at the same time and give their power and authority to the beast.
If the EU proves ineffective it could be that a smaller group arises that will exercise real power and then give their authority to the first beast.
I'm not doubting that there will be one more final world empire, or that the "prince of the people that will come" will be in some way Roman (either literally or figuratively), I'm just not sure that the EU necessarily has to be it.
There are other groups that could qualify as the ten kings base, like the G8, the UN Security Council, or some new group like the proposed League of Democracies. I'm keeping an open mind and remaining watchful. Let's see what happens with the EU summit this coming week.
