Donald Trump delays moving embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem - UPI.com
UPI reports: "The White House on Thursday said President Donald Trump delayed moving
the United States' Embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.
Trump delayed the Embassy's move for at least six months by waiving the
Jerusalem Embassy Act. [...] The U.S. Department of State for decades --
through Democratic and Republican administrations -- has insisted the
status of Jerusalem, which both Israelis and Palestinians claim as their
rightful capital, is a matter that needs to be resolved through a peace
agreement."
Comment: Well, I can say that I'm surprised but I am a bit disappointed, I thought this would be one campaign promise he would keep. I did note in the news report that he will have additional opportunities to move the embassy as the waiver has to be renewed every six months. Perhaps Trump plans to use this issue as leverage in peace negotiations?
