Mattis: U.S. considering sending weapons to Ukraine - UPI.com
UPI reports: "U.S. Secretary of Defense James Mattis said Thursday the Trump
administration is considering supplying weapons to Ukraine after a
meeting with Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko in Kiev.
Mattis said he would return to the United States and advise leaders on
what he learned during his visit to Ukraine."
Comment: I'm worried that the dangers of this move are not being carefully considered by the Trump team. It would be as if Russia decided to send arms to a rogue group of Canadians (as if that could ever be a thing). It would be even more apt of the former capital of the U.S. was located in their erstwhile breakaway province. It's not something Americans would likely accept for long without some kind of extreme reaction. While I know that Kievan Russia was a long time ago, the shadow of history is a living presence in that part of the world and our leaders who do well to tread carefully.
