With the push of a few buttons, parents will soon be able to detect the real-time location of their children with the help of cellphones. Pelephone and Cellcom announced Tuesday that they will be providing a service through which the customer will be able to track the precise location of their child within seconds.
The new service 'Where is my child?' by Pelephone is being launched with the help of GPS infrastructure that Pelephone developed in the last year.
The service will require the parent to own a cellphone with Internet surfing functions, and the child to possess a GPS-enabled cellphone. The parent has to be the registered owner of both phones to be eligible.
To launch the service the parent will have to register the child's cellphone number via a few links on the cellular Internet portal named 'Where is the child?'
Following registration, the parent will be able to receive the exact address and map to the child's location within 20 seconds. Each use of the service will cost 49 agorot including VAT.
At the same time, Cellcom announced the launch of its 'Where are you?' service, also designed to keep parents informed of their child's whereabouts at all times.
The methodology is somewhat different from Pelephone's. The parent calls a designated number and, within moments, gets back an SMS reporting the child's whereabouts in terms of the area, but without providing the exact address."
