Uzbek man charged in New York attack said he 'felt good' about what he did - Reuters
Reuters reports: "Tuesday’s assault was the deadliest in New York City since Sept. 11,
2001, when suicide hijackers crashed two jetliners into the World Trade
Center, killing more than 2,600 people. [...] According to authorities,
he then exited his vehicle shouting 'Allahu Akbar' - Arabic for 'God is
greatest' - and brandishing what turned out to be a paint-ball gun and a
pellet gun before a police officer shot him in the abdomen. [...] Two
senior U.S. lawmakers on Wednesday urged authorities to treat Saipov as
an enemy combatant, which would allow investigators to question him
without having a lawyer present."
Comment: It's interesting to note that the mainstream news media is openly identifying the religion of the terrorist. In the not so recent past they would simply say "militant" or "fighter" or some such generic term to allow them to refuse to acknowledge the role that religion plays in providing the motivation for such violent attacks.
