Is a global rebranding what Israel needs? - International Herald Tribune
IHT reports: "Israel, whose founding idea was branded as racism by the United Nations General Assembly in 1975 and which faced an Arab boycott for decades, is no stranger to isolation. But since its Gaza war, and as it prepares to inaugurate a hawkish right-wing government, it is facing its worst diplomatic crisis in two decades."
Comment: This is an interesting report because it suggests that Israelis are bothered by the way they are viewed by the world at large, and that they want to change to become more well liked. This is dangerous if we accept the notion that there is a spiritual explanation for why Israel is hated, and that this hatred cannot be appeased. There's noting Israel can do that will make their most vociferous critics like them, so they should just go about the business of defending themselves and their way of life as if public opinion didn't matter, because in the end, it can't, not for Israel.
