Experts Anxious Over Possible Net Attack
AP reports, "Government and industry experts are increasingly concerned about brewing hacker activity they consider a precursor to a broad Internet attack that will target a serious flaw in Windows software from Microsoft Corp." :: Submitted for your rumor of war and fear for the future (Luke 21:26) files. :: In this modern world, I wonder if a massive Internet attack would be the first battle of a new kind of war?
Will Episcopalians Elect a Gay Bishop?
That's what Albert Mohler is asking on Crosswalk. As I may have said before, the crisis of doctrine had to come someday, and here we are. The Archbishop of Canterbury knows that his Anglican Communion is ready to explode, and all he can do is send some pathetic letter to all the Anglican primates (the Presiding Bishop of the Protestant Episcopal Church of the USA could also be called "the Primate of America") imploring them not to do anything that "would lead to a break in fellowship." O-ohh, puh-leeeaze.::Submitted for your itching ears [2 Timothy 4:3-4] files.
The Cyber Safety Zone: Video Game Alternatives
From CBN's news division. The worst thing about video games today is their content, which has gone beyond the fanciful space opera of Asteroids to be just plain sick. But a number of developers have decided that video games can sound a Christian theme. Is there anything to this? You decide.
Church of England urges debate on sex and money
From the London Daily Mirror. Clearly the Church of England has slipped its doctrinal moorings. It wasn't always like this--after all, the Church of England gave us the Authorized or "King James" Version of the Bible. But beginning in the twentieth century, the Church of England--and the larger Anglican Communion--has been more concerned with retaining membership than with promulgating sound doctrine. Paul, of course, predicted this.::Submitted for your itching ears [2 Timothy 4:3-4] files.

How cheap is Jewish blood?
Jerry Golden asks this important question. His real point: those who say that "only" so many terrorist attacks have occurred since the "Palestinians" (again: whoever they are) signed "an agreement" have a funny notion of "only." Why should the Jews tolerate any such bloodshed in the name of something called "peace"?::Submitted for your covenant with many [Daniel 9:27] files.
An Iraqi Intellectual in London: Arab Nationalists' Interference in Iraqi Affairs Will Pound the Final Nail Into Iraq's Coffin
From MEMRI. Not all Arabs sympathize with Saddam Hussein. Reformist voices occasionally sound themselves. The Anti-American and Antisemitic Writings of Saudi Prince Amr Muhammad Al-Faysal
From MEMRI. Truly this report indicates that the House of Saud are not friends either of America or of Israel or of the God that we know and serve. Taken by themselves, they are the rants of a madman--but given that this madman is a ranking agent of the government of a supposed ally of America, the American President must ask himself: with such "allies" as these, what need have we of adversaries?::Submitted for your war and rumor of war [Matthew 24:6] files.
The Delta Aquarid Meteor Shower is Underway
Space Weather reports that, "Sky watchers who have been going outside between midnight and dawn to see Mars have lately been seeing something else, too: shooting stars. Mars is in the constellation Aquarius, and so is the radiant of the delta Aquarid meteor shower, which peaks this year on July 28th and 29th. This is not a major shower. It produces just 10 to 20 meteors each hour. But if you stand outside for 10 minutes or so, you're likely to spot a few delta Aquarids--a lovely bonus for Mars watchers." :: Submitted for your signs in the stars (Luke 21:25) and signs in the heavens (Luke 21:11) files.

Syria's Foreign Minister Thinks the Americans are Stupid!
From MEMRI. It's difficult to tell whether Syria's foreign minister thinks that Bush thinks he's God, or merely that God (Allah) will strike him down. Somehow he seems to imply both in one sentence. Most foreign ministers try to be conciliatory. Syria's Foreign Minister is behaving more like a Minister of Defense, or perhaps of Propaganda, and has issued a declaration of war in all but name.::Submitted for your war and rumor of war [Matthew 24:6] files.

Arab and Muslim Jihad Fighters in Iraq.
A Special Report from MEMRI. This goes to show that Islam is all about taking over the world, and right now it is about fighting against America and all things American. The occupation of Iraq is a double blow to Muslim pride, being an occupation of the very capital city of the old Caliphate (Baghdad) and the overthrow of a strongman who stood up to the United States.::Submitted for your war and rumor of war [Matthew 24:6] files.

Korean War Veterans Mark 1953 Armistice
This AP report notes that veterans gathered today to, "mark the 50th anniversary of the armistice ending the war." A Ranking Sheikh Speaks in Favor of Suicide Ops at a Muslim Conference in Sweden.
From MEMRI. Wartime is the great clarifier, and this is one of the clearest pronouncements yet. Space does not permit a full explication of the historical errors that Sheikh Yousef Al-Qaradhawi makes. Clearly he is pressing for all-out war against Israel. Whom do they think they are fooling?
So asks a very angry Jerry Golden in today's Report on his site. The "they" are Muhammad Abbas, aka Abu Mazen, and Yasser Arafat. What makes Jerry angry is that President George W. Bush will not heed the obvious signs that Arafat and Abbas/Mazen are diddling the world while still plotting the eventual destruction of Israel and of all things Jewish. At the same time, Israel does everything that George W. Bush says. It's enough to make a Messianic Jew like Golden actually suspect Bush of being the Beast [Revelation 13].::Submitted for your war and rumor of war [Matthew 24:6] and beast from out of the sea [Revelation 13:1-7] files.
Councilman James Davis Assassinated; Assassin Killed by Policeman.
Such are the full details as revealed by WABC-TV in New York City. Terrorism has never been a factor in New York City politics before, nor in any other city in the country--unless you count the murders of Mayor George Moscone and Supervisor Harvey Milk of San Francisco as an assassination. But today they have. This happened because Councilman Davis shepherded a man into the council chambers under the "councilman's guest privilege" that allowed the assassin to bypass inspection. From now on, the rule at City Hall will be: Trust no one. No one.::Submitted for your wickedness increases [Matthew 24:12] files.

Extended Movie Review: The Passion, produced and directed by Mel Gibson.
By Holly McClure at Crosswalk. Everything you've heard about this movie is absolutely true: it is filmed in Aramaic and Latin with no subtitles. You'll just have to get the point, I suppose, when High Priest Caiaphas jumps to his feet, tears his robe, and starts yelling and screaming and pointing. You know that he is saying, "You see! We don't need no stinkin' witnesses!" And when a man in Roman dress asks, "Es rex Iudaeorum?" or "Quod est veritas?", you'll know what he's asking.::Submitted for your gospel files.
Assassin Wounds NYC Councilor and Policeman in City Hall.
From Ananova, a Web-based news service in the United Kingdom. The shots apparently rang out at about 19:00 UTC (2:00 p.m. EST). A man (and how did he get past security?) was on the second-floor balcony when he whipped out a handgun and fired several shots in rapid-fire order. He hit a New York City council member and a police officer. The NYPD evacuated the building; the Mayor of New York was in his office at the time but is unscathed. The MEMRI Baghdad Dispatch Series.
The Middle East Media Research Institute has begun to publish a series of dispatches from its brand-new Baghdad bureau. These are samplers of the new post-Saddam press in Iraq.

Dispatch One shows that the Iraqi media are complaining about the American occupation, both in principle ("How can they celebrate Independence Day while still occupying other nations?") and in practice (the equivalent of "Where's the beef?"). The editorials also discuss the motives of the Shi'a population (they really did hate the regime even worse than the USA did) and Saddam himself (they don't appreciate him and want him and the American "occupiers" gone).

Dispatch Two expresses dissatisfaction with the new Iraq Governing Council. One editorial comes from the organ of the Iraqi Communist Party. The editorials also complain bitterly about the occupation, about "Jewish conspirators"--and also about the old regime. Apparently a lawyer initiated a lawsuit against Uday Hussein--he must not have heard that coalition forces killed him and his brother while trying to capture him (see my post below).::Submitted for your war and rumor of war [Matthew 24:6] files.

Homosexuality Threatens to Break Anglicanism in Two.
Yes, yes, I know: The New York Times. But even a stopped clock is correct twice every twenty-four hours, right? This is one of those, er, Times. But seriously, brethren: the accusation of "division" appears to be the last refuge of the false teacher. We all have important decisions to make, and one of these concerns Biblical separation. Why Does George Bush Keep Supporting Arafat but Says He Doesn't?
Jerry Golden asks this anguished question in one of his latest Reports from Israel. His evidence: Bush is reneging on financial commitments to Israel, all the while giving increased aid to various Arab governments that are supposed to be friendly. Golden concludes that Bush is a puppet under someone's control--Golden won't say who--who wants Israel destroyed. The theory of a world-wide evil conspiracy is at least a hundred years old, and I won't vouch that Golden's analysis is entirely correct. But it certainly looks bad, and I could not blame anyone for feeling that way--particularly a Messianic Jew who is anxiously awaiting the appearance of the Beast and False Prophet and has no reason to think that one or both of them might even be Americans.::Submitted for your stumbling block for all people [Zechariah 12:3] files.

The All-out Assault on the American Family
The Christian Broadcast Network gives us this sobering analysis of the degeneracy of American culture today. What is so significant about America? Because the United States of America once fashioned herself, better than any other nation in the world, according to Christian precepts. Osama bin Laden Makes Another Speech!
From the Middle East Media Research Institute comes the latest speech by Osama bin Laden. The greatest flaw in George W. Bush's foreign policy has been the reliance on the leaders of another religion to water down their faith in order to "get along" with the "civilized world." Bush forgets one deadly danger, and Tony Blair forgets it, too: The fanatical streak in Islam is not a "mutant strain"; it is the original wild type. In Osama bin Laden you see the true face of Islam, in obedience to all its fundamentals. To Osama bin Laden, the Crusades never ended. Clearly he wants to be the new Caliph of Islam uber alles (or however you say that in Arabic). And also: Jihad means one thing, and one thing only: the overthrow of non-Islamic regimes wherever they stand. Notice also that if you take away the incitements to war, you could have an ordinary fundamentalist preacher saying that wishy-washy in-name-onlies are corrupting the kids. And I for one do not care to rely on another religion getting "less fundamentalistic" in order that we may "get along" with them.

Note: I don't believe for one picosecond that American forces, under their present leadership, would "wipe Qatar off the map" or any of the other silly quotes that Osama (if it is truly he) provided. I especially don't believe that as regards Saudi Arabia--witness the continued abuses involving American-born children kidnapped to Saudi Arabia and held against their will under Saudi law. But a "Beastly" America certainly would do all the things that Osama wants people to fear today.

Is Osama bin Laden the Beast? No--because he does not come out of the sea of peoples. But I predict that he is the first in a line of inciters of a war that will give the Beast an excuse to rule.::Submitted for your wars and rumors of wars [Matthew 24:6] and your ride a red horse [Revelation 6:4] files.

Saddam's Secret Plan for Action in the Event of his Downfall
From the Middle East Media Research Institute comes this very interesting "top secret document," found in the archives of Iraqi Intelligence and appearing in, of all places, the Saudi-sponsored London Arabic-language daily Al-Hayat. Saddam was a much more canny planner than any of us thought. He must have known that he never could have successfully opposed a mass army. So he planned all along to have stay-behind agents destroying power and water stations, looting the government agencies--in short, doing everything that we now see people doing in Iraq right now. :: Submitted for your wars and rumors of wars [Matthew 24:6] and your ride a red horse [Revelation 6:4] files.
