AFP: Russian newspapers hail 'victory' after EU summit

AFP reports: "Russian newspapers on Tuesday hailed a victory for Moscow after the European Union froze talks on closer ties until Russian troops withdraw from Georgia but stopped short of imposing economic sanctions."

CNN - Analysis: Can Europe stand firm against Russia?
CNN reports: "So what were the lessons of the EU's emergency summit in Brussels [...] The first is that the EU is interested only in a political solution, not a military solution, in the Caucasus and Russia's 'near abroad'. It has neither the military muscle nor the diplomatic will for any other course."

Comment: The EU had a nice little summit, lots of words, no sanctions. The EU blinked, Russia wins. We are now on the path toward a return of the Russian Empire, the Ukraine is probably next on the menu.
