Reuters - Obama backs India's quest for U.N. permanent seat
Reuters reports: "President Barack Obama endorsed on Monday India's long-held demand for a permanent seat on the U.N. Security Council, a reflection of the Asian country's growing global weight and its challenge to rival China."

NYTimes.com - Change Will Not Come Easily to the Security Council
The New York Times reports: "The idea of overhauling the Security Council, even by the slow standards of the United Nations, has been under negotiation for about 18 years with no end in sight [...] But basically the five permanent members have veto power over any proposed overhaul of the council and do little to move it forward."

Comment:
It's an interesting situation, there is a consensus that the present system for global governance and proto-global government is broken and needs to change but those who must approve the change will always be reluctant to do so. I've always felt that the U.N. Security Council could be a fulfillment of the Ten Kings prophecy in the future, but I'm more and more convinced that the ten will come from some other body or alliance that may not even exist at this point.
