My Way News - North Korea gives SKorean missionary life sentence
My Way News reports: "North Korea said Saturday it has sentenced a South Korean Baptist missionary to hard labor for life for allegedly spying and trying to set up underground churches, the latest in a string of missionaries to run into trouble in the rigidly controlled North. [...] North Korean defectors have said that the distribution of Bibles and secret prayer services can mean banishment to a labor camp or execution."

NYTimes.com - Church-State Clash in China Coalesces Around a Toppled Spire
The New York Times reports: "This urban area of nine million in eastern China, nestled between rugged mountains and a jagged coastline, has moved to the center of a national battle with a Communist Party increasingly suspicious of Christianity and the Western values it represents. Since March, at least a dozen other churches across Zhejiang Province have been told to remove their crosses or have received demolition orders, a significant escalation in a party campaign to counter the influence of China’s fastest-growing religion."
