MEMRI: Egyptian Ministry of Culture Publication: The Al-Aqsa Mosque and Dome of the Rock were Built to Divert the Pilgrimage from Mecca; Jerusalem was Not the Center of Worship for the Followers of the Prophet Muhammad
That's the most seriously anti-orthodox charge I have yet seen in any Arab news organ--and this is an Egyptian government organ. Someone is playing dangerous games in a part of the world where disputes about doctrine are settled violently. Now it's hard to feature the Egyptian Ministry of Culture deliberately rationalizing a Third Jewish Temple. But should a debunking of the Dome of the Rock and Al-Aqsa Mosque gain wide acceptance, the UN--or the Beast from the Sea [Revelation 13:1-7]--could use that as an excuse to authorize a Third Temple. Such a thing in turn would pave the way for the Abomination That Causes Desolation [Daniel 9:27; Matthew 24; Luke 21].
