My Way News - Rival Palestinian factions reach unity agreement
My Way News reports: "Rival Palestinian groups said they reached an agreement Wednesday on reuniting their governments in the West Bank and Gaza after years of bitter infighting that weakened them politically and caused the deaths of hundreds in violent clashes and crackdowns since [...] unity between the rival groups Fatah and Hamas appeared unlikely to jump start negotiations with Israel for an independent Palestinian state."

Comment: Yes, very unlikely. Hamas wants to destroy Israel and Fatah wants a peace agreement, there would seem to be very little common ground. Worse, the prospect of elections means that Hamas could win yet another popular election and this time the international community will find it hard to ignore that outcome as they did the last time. If the Palestinian people vote for the war party, what will Israel and the West do then? Will they finally acknowledge that the Palestinians don't want peace, or will they continue down the path of appeasement?
