Covenant With Many - Peace of Jerusalem

Rami Hamdallah visits Gaza to begin reunification with Ramallah - UPI.com
UPI reports: "Palestinian Authority Prime Minister Rami Hamdallah on Monday visited Gaza for the first time in two years to begin the process of reunifying Hamas-controlled Gaza with leadership in Ramallah. Hamas, a fundamentalist governing body, took over the Gaza Strip in 2007, but last month dissolved and invited the PA to take control."

Comment: So the Palestinian civil war is coming to an end. On the surface it appears that the "political wing" won and the "militant wing" lost. But why would Hamas cave when their Iranian sponsors now have troops just one border away in Syria ready to lend them a hand? I know the Egyptian and Israeli blockade of Gaza was a factor, but they've been dealing with that for years. What I fear is that the political leadership of Fatah is weak (and let's not forget the generational factor, they are the old guard) and out of touch and may find themselves suddenly on that outs. We may find that in a few short weeks Hamas is fully in control of the PA and eager to dictate terms to Israel.
