Covenant With Many - Peace of Jerusalem

Hamas, Fatah reach deal on Palestinian reconciliation - UPI.com
UPI reports: "Rival Islamic factions Hamas, which controls Gaza, and the West Bank's Fatah agreed Thursday to a reconciliation deal allowing the Palestinian Authority to assume control of both areas. Palestinians in each area have been ruled separately since 2007, when a split developed between the two Islamic groups. [...] The presence of the Palestinian Authority is a key element in convincing Egypt and Israel to lift economic blockades of Gaza, Haaretz reported."

Comment: After all the celebrating is over I'm wondering if Hamas will radicalize Fatah or if Fatah will moderate Hamas?  There is also the possibility that both will retain their distinct identities (and sponsors) and that this is all for show so they can get Egypt and Israel to lift the blockade. Time will tell. One thing is certain, a united front by the Palestinians puts increased pressure on Israel to return to negotiations and as we know, for most of the world, "negotiations" means what more Israel can give.
