My Way News - Russia threatens military response to US missiles

AP reports: "Russian President Dmitry Medvedev is warning his country may respond to a U.S. missile shield in Europe through military means."

Comment: It would appear that the newly assertive Russia will respond to the U.S. basing interceptor missiles in Europe with some kind of military move. What options might Russia consider? Russia could:

- sell weapons to Syria to put pressure on U.S. ally Israel
- openly side with Iran in the dispute over Iran's nuclear program, veto new sanctions
- continue to use energy as a tool to exert influence in Europe and the Caucasus
- restore ties to former Soviet client states not in NATO or EU
- stoke anti-American sentiment at all levels
- steal U.S. diplomatic thunder by taking a higher profile in Mideast peace talks, host international peace conference in Moscow
- declare new Cold War by selling weapons to Taliban in Afghanistan and Pakistan
