BBC NEWS | Business | Emerging economies 'get new role'
BBC News reports: "The G20 group of leading and emerging economies will take on a new role as a permanent body coordinating the world economy, a US official has said."

My Way News - G-20 taking on permanent coordinating role
My Way News reports: "An administration official says that the Group of 20 nations will assume the role of a permanent council on global economic cooperation. [...] The official said President Barack Obama initiated the move and it will be announced Friday."

Comment: This would appear to be a major development if I'm reading this right, the G20 will take over from the G8 as the guiding committee for the world economy. It will be interesting to see how this develops, if they will keep the informality of the G8 or if they will create a new organization with an established headquarters.
